Short Bio

I’ve been drawing on walls since I could hold a crayon (sorry, Mom). My free time is either spent with my nose in a fantasy novel or clay on my hands. And on my jeans. And probably everywhere else. I’m been a civil servant for the better part of a decade, and have made my office into a small art gallery. I have a BA in English Lit from West Liberty Uni, and casually attend art classes at CCAC. I just want to make art and make others want to create it too.

Statement

I’m Ru of Ru Giffen-Bradley Arts. I paint with gouache, watercolor, and acrylics; make mid-fire stoneware ceramics; and craft metal, sculptural ceramic, and bead jewelry. My arts are whimsical, often with nature and insect themes, and a hint of something mystical around the edges. I like to play with contrast--be it mismatched yet balanced earrings, contrasting textures and colors, or youthful ideas with chic finishes. My tiny pottery and fairy houses, and sculpted ceramic pendants are the best examples of my obsession with small details.
